Andrés Gaos: Works for violin and piano

Andrés Gaos

Andrés Gaos was a Galician composer who stood out for having succeeded in spreading Galician music during the early 20th century throughout Latin America, especially Argentina, the country where he spent most of his life.

The present edition constitutes a compilation of all the pieces composed by Gaos for violin and piano (except his Opus 37). It belongs to the series Agra Vella, within the collection Ars Gallaeciae Musicae that Dos Acordes co-publishes with the Galician Agency for Cultural Industries (AGADIC) of the Xunta de Galicia, which aims to recover the work of outstanding figures of the world musical and cultural heritage.

This book contains the following scores:

-Five original works: Muiñeira, Jota Aragonesa, Habanera, Romanza, Danza Argentina

-Two aires criollos, free arrangements of various pieces for piano by the Argentinian composer Julián Aguirre (1868-1924).

-Two transcriptions of the pieces for piano Rama de Piquillín, Rancho abandonado by the Argentinian composer Alberto Williams (1862-1952):

-Three harmonisations and arrangements of the pieces by Pablo Sarasate (1844-1908) Habanera, op. 21, Jota aragonesa, op. 27, and Serenata andaluza, op. 28.

This book also includes all the violin parts.
